The LR-11 board is built around Ezurio’s 453-00139R module by Mikroelektronika, which integrates a Silicon Labs EFR32 processor and a Semtech SX1262 radio. Accompanying the board is a matching FlexDipole antenna that operates at both 868 and 915MHz frequencies. This makes it suitable for a wide range of developers, including hobbyists, engineers, and companies involved in IoT applications, smart home technologies, and industrial automation.

This board supports LoRaWAN classes A, B, and C, functioning across a frequency range of 902-928MHz and offering an output of up to 22dBm. This configuration can achieve a remarkable communication range of up to 15 kilometers.

“A special feature of LR-11 Click is an additional mikroBus socket which expands functionality with peripherals such as sensors and LCDs,” noted Nebojsa Matic, CEO,  Mikroe. He added that added Click boards can communicate with the onboard 453-00139R through UART, SPI, or I2C interfaces.

The LR-11 supports both unicast and broadcast modes, accommodating up to 64 devices within a single network. This module is versatile in operation, functioning in either hosted mode, where it is programmed using an AT command set or in hostless mode, utilizing its own Arm Cortex-M33 core with 512kB of flash memory and 32kB of RAM.

Measuring 57.2 x 25.4mm, the board is compatible with power supplies ranging from 3.3V to 5V. It includes libraries and example code to facilitate development, along with ClickID support, enabling some host systems to automatically recognize the board.

Potential applications for this module are extensive, making it a valuable tool for developers in the rapidly evolving Internet of Things (IoT) landscape, with opportunities in asset tracking, smart home systems, and industrial automation
